Anti Ragging

Ragging is strictly prohibited in MGMIOM:

The Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999, promulgates strict action against any student who indulges in ragging:

"Ragging" means display of disorderly conduct, doing of any act which causes or is likely to cause physical, psychological harm or raise apprehension or fear or shame or embarrassment to a student in any educational institution and includes .

Teasing, abusing, threatening or playing practical jokes on, or causing hurt to, such student; or Asking a student to do any act or perform something which such student will not, in the ordinary course, willingly, do. Penalties include fine/suspension/dismissal and/or imprisonment and being debarred from seeking admission to any other institution.The punishment may also take the shape of

Withholding / withdrawing scholarships / fellowships and other benefits.
Debarring from representation in events
withholding results
Cancellation of Admission.
Suspension from attending classes.
Debarring from appearing any test / examination or other evaluation process.
Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival etc
Suspension / expulsion from the hostel.
Rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.
Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.
Fine of rupees 25,000/-
Collective punishment : When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.

MGM IOM has its own Anti-Ragging Committee and Monitoring Cell, constituted according to AICTE norms to ensure compliance with the Directives of the Supreme Court, the Central and State Governments, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and AICTE.

Cases/incidents if ragging will be reported immediately to the anti-ragging committee of the institute. Strict action as per the said act, rules and regulations will be taken against the defaulters.
